The Moncton High School Guidance Department consists of three counselors.

Ms. Buzzell follows students whose last name begins with A - F, Mr. Furlotte follows students G - Mc and Ms. Williams follows students Md - Z.

Students wishing to meet with a counselor are asked to fill out an ‘appointment slip’ available in the Guidance Office. Depending on the reason for the meeting, they will be called down immediately or perhaps within a day or two – depending on the urgency and reason for the request.

Most referrals to guidance are for the following reasons:

  • Personal counselling
  • Academic concerns (requesting a change in course, a tutor, a change in ‘course level’, etc.)
  • Seeking information on Post Secondary options
  • Scholarship/bursary/Student Loan information

Our guidance counsellors welcome calls from parents regarding any of the above.

Additional referrals of a personal nature, the Guidance Department may call on ‘outside agencies’ such as Mental Health or Sexual Health. As is expected, information between the student and the counselor is confidential, unless the safety of the student is in jeopardy.

Related Guidance Services:

  • Mrs. A. Carruthers - Psychologist - @ MHS on Tuesday
  • Mr. Marc Taillon - Addictions Counsellor - @ MHS on Monday, Wednesday and Friday
  • RCMP Liason –
